Canberra woman praised after accidentally scratching car
A woman was left stunned after finding a handwritten note attached to her car windscreen following a day of work.
A woman has been widely praised for a kind note she left for the driver of a car she accidentally scraped with her own.
The Canberra local, who signed off as Claire, attached the handwritten letter to the windscreen of the car she hit, which was later shared online by the grateful car owner.
“Hi, I am so sorry I scratched your car,” Claire wrote, before listing out her full name, number and licence.
“Please get in touch so I can arrange to pay for repairs. Sorry again, Claire,” her letter read.
The owner of the scratched car was so thankful she paid tribute to Claire in a Facebook post.
“I got this little note attached to my windshield after work today. She left a note with her mobile number saying she scratched my car and she wants to repair it,” the post read.

More than 3000 people agreed, with many applauding Claire’s kind act in comments.
“What a beautiful gesture. Selfless and caring about others. Claire brings hope for a different world,” one impressed Facebook user said.
“Claire you did an honest thing with integrity. You’re a good egg,” someone else wrote.
“To the Claire who owned her mistake and fessed up to it and now wants make it right – how awesome and rare this is. Good karma is coming your way,” another said.
Others shared stories of receiving far more significant damage from careless drivers who decided against leaving notes.
Some said they too had received apologetic letters from people who had accidentally caused damage, with many opting to let them off paying for repairs out of appreciation for their kind act.
