Tesla FSD (Supervised) available as a monthly subscription
Tesla has made a massive change to its cars in Australia, that has been hailed as ‘game changing’ by some but it has left plenty of owners furious.
Tesla customers who don’t want to pay $10,100 for its Full Self-Driving (Supervised) can now access the feature for $149 per month.
While it is one of the most expensive subscriptions on the road, the deal does make it easier for people to turn the feature on or off as needed.
Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) has been one of the most important automotive stories of the year in Australia, as it represents the first time hands-free driving has been made available to the public.

Customers who activated FSD following the monthly subscription offer have largely reacted positively to the tech, reporting on X.com that they are “massively impressed” by the “mind-boggling tech” and are “absolutely blown away”.

But some owners are frustrated with a lack of progress for cars fitted with previous-generation “Hardware 3” or HW3 computer hardware.
Though promised to customers long ago, the feature remains off-limits, and central to a class-action lawsuit tarting frustrated owners.

Friday’s announcement that FSD is now available as a monthly subscription was described by one customer on social media as “especially galling for S/X early adopters, most of whom shelled out $10,100 over six years ago for a promise that’s now gathering dust”.

“I’m genuinely stunned at how catastrophically Tesla is fumbling their once-unwavering core fans, the very pioneers who bet the farm on them,” they said.
Another user asked “what about HW3 owners?”.
“Or those that have HW3 and a HW4 but you refuse the transfer and insist we just ‘buy another one’?”
