Pagani Huayra Codalunga hypercar revealed

One of the world’s premier car makers has taken the covers off its ultra exclusive supercar that is unlike anything on the road today.

One of the world’s most exclusive supercar makers has taken the covers off its new performance monster.

Pagani debuted the new Huayra Codalunga at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK.

Pagani is building just five of the Huayra Codalunga.

The supercar maker will build just five of the daring machines, with a price starting at €7m ($10.6m).

Under the bonnet is a 6.0-litre V12 twin-turbocharged petrol engine that makes 618kW and 1100Nm, which is close to the combined outputs of six Toyota Corollas.

The supercar is fitted with enormous Brembo carbon ceramic brakes and its structure is made up of carbon-fibre and titanium that helps keep the car’s weight down.

Prices start at more than $10m for the Huayra Codalunga.

Big alloy wheels measure 20-inches at the front and 21-inches at the rear and they’re wrapped in high-performance Pirelli P Zero Corsa rubber.

The long-tail Codalunga isn’t as viscous looking as the Huayra Coupe, but it stands out in the crowd with its spaceship-style rear end and gullwing doors.

For those lucky enough to afford one, it’s too late, they are all sold out.

Gullwing doors will turn heads.

The idea for the wild ride was born in 2018, when two Pagani collectors asked the brand to build a long-tail version of the Huayra coupe. The clients liaise directly with the brand’s special projects division to create the Huayra Codalunga.

Horacio Pagani, the head of Pagani, says: “A client is not someone who only buys from you once. A real client comes back again and again.”

The design draws inspiration from Le Mans racers from the 1960s.

Pagani worked with the buyers over two years to finalise the design concept for the Codalunga.

“We made the Huayra Codalunga longer and smoother, as if it had been caressed and moulded by the wind, to design lines that were even more elegant than the coupe,” says Pagani.

“We drew inspiration from the long tails of the 1960s that raced at Le Mans, which had very clean lines.”

There are plenty of aerodynamic features.

Pagani has a history of making rare exotic cars. In 2021 it revealed the track-only Huayra R that was limited to just 30 examples and cost about $4m each.

This model featured wild aerodynamic design features that gave it Batmobile-like qualities with an enormous fin, gaping front vents and huge rear diffusers.
