A new head-turning SUV is preparing to hit Aussie roads later this year.

Chinese brand Haval has revealed its new H6 GT, which is due to arrive in showrooms sometime after March.

Based on the regular H6 the GT version brings a sloping coupe roofline.

The coupe-like roofline and duel rear spoilers give the H6 GT plenty of sporty appeal.

Coupe SUVs have grown in popularity ever since the BMW X6 arrived on the scene in 2008, but good looks take away an SUVs strengths by reducing back seat head room and rear cargo space.

The H6 GT’s sporty appeal is further boosted with dual rear spoilers and twin exhausts.

Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit making 150kW and 320Nm and is matched to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

It is expected to arrive in Australia in Q2 of this year.

Haval has also kitted out the GT with sporty Michelin tyres and high-performance Brembo brakes.

Inside there is a 12.3-inch infotainment display that is matched to a 10.25 digital instrument display. Front seat passengers are also treated to sports seats.

The H6 GT has plenty of active driver aids including auto emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keep assist and radar cruise control.

Haval hasn’t revealed prices but it’s likely to cost somewhere in the mid-$40,000 range.

To ease any quality concerns surrounding the emerging brand, GWM backs its vehicles with a seven-year/unlimited km warranty. This is combined with a five-year capped price servicing program.

This isn’t the first new H6 variant Haval is launching this year as it looks to build on its success of 2021 – where it managed to boost sales by 250 per cent.

The emerging Chinese brand – which is the SUV offshoot of Great Wall Motors (GWM) – has revealed its new H6 Vanta special edition.

Based on the top-spec Ultra variant the H6 Vanta brings plenty of equipment at a sharp price of $39,990 drive-away in two-wheel drive guise. All-wheel drive costs an extra $2000.

This is about the same price as a base Toyota RAV4.
