Frankenstein Porsche monster truck revealed
The Porsche 911 is one of the world’s most desirable and expensive sports cars, but a few crazy companies have turned them into an offroad weapon.
If you’ve ever thought of taking your Porsche 911 off-road, here is the car for you.
The Frankenstein’s monster, created by German tuner Gemballa, turns one of the world’s most desirable sports cars into a hot-rod four-wheel drive.
Named the Avalanche 4x4, the future hectic high-rider is based on the new version of the Porsche 911.
Gemballa’s styling has taken a drastic turn away from the low-profile sports car it was originally. Instead it has been raised, rides on enormous, rugged off-road tyres and has some aggressive body work along with a giant rear wing.
No performance details exist but Gemballa does build a regular version of the Avalanche — based on the old 997 Porsche 911 — which makes 500kW and 925Nm out of a modified version of Porsche’s six-cylinder turbo engine.
Gemballa says it will start producing the vehicle by the end of the year in “an exclusive small series”, which means it will most likely be very expensive.
Gemballa isn’t the only company turning the new Porsche 911 into a off-road weapon.
German tuner Ruf has debuted it Rodeo concept. The cowboy themed Franken-Porsche blends rally race car looks with off road adventuring. Roof racks provide room for extra supplies, while there’s also a bullbar and four rally-style off-road lights. A chunky brush guard protects the front from damage and big off-road tyres, a four-wheel drive set-up and a rear mounted shovel give it the appearance of off-road capability.
Inside there is a cowboys and indians vibe with Native American inspired upholstery patterns and fabrics and plenty of worn brown leather.
