Ford E-Transit Custom confirmed for Australia

Australian workers will soon have the chance to get their hands on an all-new vehicle that’ll change the way they work and play.

Aussie tradies will soon have a chance to go electric.

Ford has confirmed its new E-Transit Custom van will enter production next year with it due to hit local showrooms soon after.

This is part of Ford’s plan to bring at least five electrified vehicles to market by the end of 2024.

Ford has confirmed an electric version of its Transit Custom van.

The E-Transit Custom will join the larger E-Transit electric van and the plug-in hybrid Escape SUV in the Blue Oval’s electrified local line-up. Both models are due in showrooms in the coming months.

Ford Australia boss, Andrew Birkic, said: “The E-Transit Custom is exactly the kind of versatile, practical van business customers are looking for, with the benefit of zero-emissions efficiency. We are focused on deeply understanding the needs of commercial vehicle customers and bringing them the best of our global line-up.”

Ford plans to have at least five electrified vehicles on sale by the end of 2024.

Ford says the vehicle will be a standout in the one-tonne segment and will have full towing capability and will be compatible with ultra fast battery charging.

Ford is remaining tight-lipped on details for the E-Transit Custom, but the bigger E-Transit uses a 68kWh battery that delivers 317km of range and an electric motor making 198kW/420Nm driving the rear wheels.

Ford hasn’t revealed any technical details about the E-Transit Custom.

Despite the Blue Oval’s push into electrified vehicles it is still unlikely to get its hands on the Mustang Mach-E electric SUV that is sold in Europe and North America.

The Mustang Mach-E blends handsome, muscular styling with potent zero-emissions power.

The range-topping Mustang Mach E GT has 358kW and 860Nm that translates to a 4.4 second figure, outsprinting the regular V8-powered coupe.
