Ford confirms Tourneo people mover for Australia
More spacious than an SUV and more practical than a ute, this family-friendly car is a throwback to simpler times.
Ford Australia has locked in plans to introduce the Tourneo people mover.
Based on the long wheelbase Transit Custom commercial van, the Tourneo shapes up as a versatile and practical alternative to high-riding SUVs.
The eight-seater has a clever interior setup that allows customers to move – or even remove – seats as they see fit.
Tourneo owners can rotate seats so that they face each other, slide them around to accommodate people of different sizes, or remove them altogether to turn it into a cargo van.
Andrew Birkic, president and chief executive of Ford Australia, says the Tourneo makes a lot of sense for families on the move.

“It’s packed with clever features like the track-based seating system, giving families one vehicle for everything they need.
“Whether it’s the daily commute, a trip to the beach, school drop off, a weekend getaway, moving furniture, or a cross-country road trip, Tourneo is ready to take on any adventure with ease.”
Built in Türkiye, the Tourneo has a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that sends 125kW and 390Nm to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.
It will be available in two models.
An entry-level Active model costs $65,990 plus on-road costs, while the range-topping Titanium X costs $70,990 plus on-roads.
Both versions have a 13-inch central infotainment screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and are loaded up with safety features such as auto emergency braking, active cruise control, lane keeping assistance and rear cross traffic alerts.
The Titanium X adds toys such as a 360-degree camera, premium stereo, faux leather trim and panoramic sunroof.
The car is set to arrive locally in the fourth quarter of 2024.
