The moment a $55K Tesla car was allegedly keyed by an elderly man in a ritzy Sydney suburb has been captured on video.

The footage shows the man, who was wearing a white T-shirt and baseball cap in Rose Bay, walk closely to the car before gliding his hand across the paintwork.

The man is then seen shuffling out of view, in the video recorded on Tesla’s Sentry system.

The incident occurred on the corner of South Head Road and Dover Road in front of the local pub Hotel Rose Bay.

People online were quick to comment on the alleged act of vandalism.

“Bloody hell Deon, this is atrocious. I hope they find him soon!” one person wrote.

“This is absolutely shocking! Another wrote.

The latest video follows a spate of bizarre keying incidents involving Teslas across the country.

Last month, a similar incident occurred in Epping, Victoria, where an elderly lady vandalised a local’s electric vehicle, leading a “deep scratch from the rear passenger door all the way through to the left guard.”

Both this and the most recent incident were caught on Tesla’s Sentry system.

The technology allows the eight cameras around the vehicle to remain powered on and ready to record suspicious behaviour, turning on once it detects a potential threat.
