2024 Tesla Model 3 revealed in Australia
One of the best selling electric cars in the country is in line for some big upgrades and it’ll be here sooner than you think.
Tesla’s Model 3 just got a whole lot better.
Changes to the popular sedan appear to be bigger than first thought, with enhancements inside and out.
Prices start at about $65,000 drive-away for the rear-wheel drive version and $75,000 for the all-wheel drive long range version with deliveries to commence in January next year.
The new Model 3 has new bumpers, doors and lights along with numerous aerodynamic upgrades to make it as slippery as possible to improve driving range.
It’s not just cosmetic tweaks, though.
Tesla has recalibrated the dampers to help cushion the passengers against bumps and lumps on the road.
Tesla has also changed the steering ratio to help improve how the car drives.
Inside the cabin has been reworked including the removal of the gear selector stalk on the steering wheel in favour of being controlled via the centre touchscreen and the indicator stalk has been ditched too for steering wheel buttons.
Rear seat passengers now have an eight-inch touchscreen to access rear climate controls and entertainment.
It has interior ambient lighting for the first time with up to 200 colour combinations.
Tesla claims the cabin is quieter thanks to acoustic glass, increased suspension bushings, new seals and additional sound deadening materials.
Driving range has been improved slightly with Long Range able to travel up to 629km – up 27km – on a single charge and the standard range is up 22km to 513km.
It can accept a charging rate of up to 170kW via a DC fast charger.
Tesla hasn’t revealed an updated version of the Performance version but it is understood to be on the way later next year.
The Tesla Model 3 is the second best selling electric car in the country, notching up close to 16,000 sales in the first 10 months of this year.
Tesla’s Model Y SUV is the bestseller, moving more than 24,000 units in the same period.
The Model Y is based on the Model 3 and is likely to receive similar updates in the future.
