2023 Nissan Patrol Warrior confirmed

An Australian exclusive version of one of the world’s mightiest four-wheel drives promises to bring new levels of ability and toughness.

The Nissan Patrol four-wheel drive will be given an Aussie makeover.

Nissan has teamed up with local outfit Premcar to create the Patrol Warrior, an off-roader developed to tackle the country’s toughest conditions.

The current Nissan Patrol has been on sale for 12 years.

The Warrior variant will breathe new life into the current Patrol that has been on sale for 12 years and is falling behind newer rivals such as the 300-Series Toyota LandCruiser.

This is the second collaboration between the Melbourne based-engineering firm and the Japanese giant. They previously combined to develop the Nissan Navara Warrior.

Three different Navara Warriors have been created, attracting more than 3500 sales.

Nissan Australia boss, Adam Paterson, has similar big hopes for the Patrol Warrior.

“The Warrior program, our collaboration with Premcar, has already proven immensely popular in Australia, and a new version of the already hugely capable Nissan Patrol is a vehicle I, like many Australians, can’t wait to drive,” says Paterson.

“Our collaboration with Premcar is all about developing vehicles that are perfectly suited to Australian customers and conditions.”

The vehicle is exclusive to Australia and remains powered by the regular patrol’s 5.6-litre V8 petrol engine that makes 298kW and 560Nm.

The Warrior will retain the current version’s (pictured) V8 petrol engine.

Premcar’s upgrades have boosted the vehicle’s off-road performance with wheel, tyre and suspension tweaks.

It is expected to have greater ground clearance, a wider stance and enhanced ride and handling.

Premcar says the program is likely to take about 12 months before production commences at its manufacturing facility in northern Melbourne suburb of Epping.

The Patrol Warrior prototype vehicles and components will be put through a gruelling program to make the model rough-road ready and government certified.
