2023 GWM Cannon-CC dual cab ute confirmed for Australia
A new dual-cab workhorse has arrived in Australia and it undercuts mainstream rivals by more than $10,000.
Australian tradies on a budget now have another workhorse to consider.
GWM (Great Wall Motors) has launched the new cab-chassis version of its Cannon Ute.
It is still a five-seater but it ditches the tub tray for a hard-wearing aluminium one that is easier to load and customise.
The base Cannon two-wheel drive variant is priced at $36,990 drive-away, which is $1000 more than the equivalent tub tray variant.
Many mainstream ute brands don’t offer a cab-chassis two-wheel-drive ute with five seats.
Adding four-wheel drive to the Cannon-CC increases the price by $3000. This undercuts the popular Toyota HiLux Workmate by more than $10,000.
The better equipped Cannon-L variant is priced at $43,490.
There is extra incentive for businesses and sole traders, as ABN holders pay $1500 less.
All Cannon cab-chassis variants are powered by the same 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine that makes 120kW and 400Nm. It is paired with an eight-speed auto and has a braked towing capacity of 3000kg and a 1130kg payload.
Base two-wheel and four-wheel drive versions havet 18-inch alloy wheels, LED lighting front and back and side steps.
Inside the Cannon chassis-cab is well equipped, too.
There are faux leather seats, a nine-inch central touchscreen that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the driver instruments are a mix of analog dials and a small digital information readout.
There are USB charging ports in the front and rear as well as a 12 and 220-volt power outlets.
The new model has seven airbags, auto emergency braking, a reversing camera, parking sensors and radar cruise control.
More expensive Cannon-L variants add chrome exterior highlights, power folding side mirrors, heated front seats, front parking sensors and a bird’s eye view camera.
.
All GWM vehicles come with a seven-year/unlimited km warranty and five years of roadside assistance.
The Cannon is covered by a capped price servicing program for the first five years, which will set owners back $1700.
