2021 Ferrari Daytona SP3 revealed

The Italian brand is the king of supercars and its latest limited edition beast continues that trend with some wild performance.

Ferrari's latest and greatest

Ferrari’s latest supercar is an absolute beast.

Named the Daytona SP3, the limited edition model pays homage to the brand’s motorsport heritage and its one-two-three finish at the 1967 Daytona 24-hour race.

Only 599 Ferrari Daytona SP3s will be built.

The Ferrari dominance at Daytona was a payback of sorts to Ford after it annihilated the famed Italian brand at the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hour race, which was depicted in the recent Ford v Ferrari movie.

Ferrari will only build 599 examples of the Daytona with prices starting at €2m ($3.1m). There is one example coming to Australia where after taxes it is likely to cost north of $4m.

But even if you have that amount of money to spend on a car it might not be enough. Ferrari often prioritises its limited edition models to owners who have bought many Ferraris and other special editions.

The Daytona will feature a mid-mounted non-turbocharged 6.5-litre V12 engine making 618kW and 697Nm and revs all the way to 9500rpm. It is paired to a seven-speed dual-cutch auto.

This is the most powerful engine ever built by Ferrari and enables the car to sprint from 0-100km/h in 2.85 seconds on the way to a top speed of more than 340km/h.

The Daytona is boldly styled with an aggressive, muscular stance with plenty of edgy aerodynamic features. This is topped off with a targa roof, which has a removable hard top, and butterfly wing doors.

Ferrari has continued the race car theme inside where it has integrated the seats into the body rather than mounting them onto the chassis like normal cars. This means that driver and passenger sit lower and more reclined than in any other road car.

It has one of the lowest seating positions in any road car.

The lower seating position means the car is just 1142mm tall, which helps improve the aerodynamics by reducing drag.
