2023 BMW M3 CS Australian details confirmed

The latest performance monster from a famed European brand is being added to its Australian arsenal later this year.

BMW has revealed its hardcore new muscle car, the M3 CS.

The potent four-door performance car is due in Australia in the second half of this year and will be priced from $249,900 (before on-road costs), which is about $100,000 more than the standard M3.

Power comes from a souped-up version of the M3’s twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine that makes 405kW and 650Nm, 30kW more than the M3 Competition. It is paired to an eight-speed auto and all-wheel drive.

The M3 CS has potent acceleration thanks to peak torque delivered at a low 2750rpm.

It boosts the M3’s performance to new levels.

The M3 CS can make the sprint to 100km/h in 3.4 seconds, a slight improvement over the M3 Competition. Top speed is electronically limited to 305km/h.

The M3 CS isn’t just about raw numbers, it’s a much more focused machine with plenty of performance enhancements.

The engine benefits from BMW motorsport pedigree as it carries over multiple elements from the brand’s GT3 and GTM racers.

BMW has used lots of carbon fibre in its construction to keep weight down.

BMW has stripped weight out by extensively using lightweight elements such as a fully-carbon fibre bonnet and roof and carbon-fibre reinforced plastic elements inside and out.

A stiffer body will boost handling and multiple driving modes can dial up the vehicle’s sporty characteristics even further.

A titanium exhaust with matt black tailpipes adds character.

Owners can choose to wrap the 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels in either high-performance or track tyres.

The standard brakes with red calipers can be replaced with optional ceramic brakes for increased stopping power.

Inside, front passengers are greeted by M carbon bucket seats that are heated, electronically adjustable and wrapped in red and black Merino leather with contrast stitching.

An Alcantara-wrapped sports steering wheel adds to the appeal.

The interior is still as luxurious as you’d expect from a BMW.

There are plenty of tech features including a curved 12.3-inch digital instrument display and 14.9-inch central screen. This is complemented by a wireless device charger, ambient lighting, a head-up display and BMW’s laser head lights
