Renault has unveiled its latest think piece on the future of motoring at the 2018 Paris motor show and it is good news for those who want to be neither seen nor heard.

Its latest concept, the Ez-Ultimo, is an electric, connected and autonomous vehicle that is designed to convey passengers in absolute privacy.

Renault refers to this mode of transport as a “premium mobility experience” — a first-class way of concealing up to three occupants from the outside world thanks to an upper structure that works like a one-way mirror.

The electric vehicle is 5.8m-long and just 1.35m high. In a cabin trimmed with wood, marble and leather, passengers occupy large armchairs or a deep bench-style rear seat.

Structural integrity might be an issue, given the full glass roof without the support of door pillars and the extravagant wheelbase — it’s just under four metres from hub to hub.

Beyond the futuristic design and luxe interior fitout, the Ez-Ultimo has numerous retro features, such as rotating knobs similar to those found on amplifiers to control the lighting and audio.

The concept anticipates future vehicles to be connected with Wi-fi and GPS capabilities.

Renault expects the premium service to work alongside its more mainstream Ez-Go robot taxi and Ez-Pro driverless delivery van in the connected cities of the future.
