DONALD Trump will have a serious set of wheels come Inauguration Day, with the President-elect reportedly set to debut his “Cadillac One” limousine on Friday.

The new presidential limo, also known as “The Beast,” is worth $US1.5 million ($AUD2 million) and is loaded with weapons, including tear gas cannons behind the bumper and a shotgun, the New York Post reports.

The doors and windows can withstand armour piercing bullets and the impressive seven-seater vehicle is sealed to withstand biological and chemical attacks. Additionally, the car’s underside is built to protect against roadside bombs and only the drivers’ side window can open. The military-grade armour will make the doors so heavy that Mr Trump won’t be able to open them from the inside.

Along with being impervious to most attacks, the limo is stocked with a life support machine and a supply of the President-elect’s blood type in case of emergencies where the ambulance that travels with the motorcade can’t gain access to him.

Mr Trump’s sleek new ride is just about ready to make its first public appearance and the 2017 Cadillac will replace a fleet of nearly a dozen limos that have served President Obama since 2009, Autoweek reported.

While the exterior will look much the same as President Obama’s official ride, the big changes will be the updated communications equipment, with a fleet of 12 identical models of “The Beast” reportedly being produced to replace the current versions.

It’s unlikely the vehicle will be transformed into a mobile office featuring “multiple tables, screens and office equipment,” given presidents do not typically spend too much time in the vehicle, Autoweek speculated.

President-elect Trump’s flash wheels will typically be used for trips of a maximum half an hour and will follow him around the world on Air Force One.

Journeys longer than half an hour will be taken by air in the Presidential chopper, Marine One, according to The Sun.

The debut of the state of the art vehicle comes as security in Washington, D.C. ramps up in preparation for the 58th presidential inauguration this Friday.

Inaugurations are always difficult to police, but law enforcement officials this year are facing a record number of protest groups, as well as a web of potential threats and close to one million people hitting the streets in the nation’s capital.

“We’re facing a more complex threat environment,” Paul Abbate, executive assistant director of the FBI told CBS News. “Just in terms of the types of attacks that have occurred … things we’ve seen happen here in the United States and around the world.”
