Firefighters battle blaze of motorhomes on Gold Coast

A NUMBER of expensive motorhomes have been destroyed after a car yard went up in flames early this morning.

AT LEAST 10 motorhomes for sale in a Gold Coast car yard have gone up in flames in the early hours of this morning.

The blaze gutted the expensive motorhomes at the Arundel car yard just after 4am.

Eight fire crews plus a number of senior officers battled the fire across from Harbourtown, with police closing down parts of Olsen Avenue to traffic until 5.50am.

The fire was under control by 4.46am and fully extinguished before 6am.

Fire investigators will inspect the property today.

Police believe the fire to be suspicious until proven otherwise.

Queensland Ambulance Services are on standby to assist firefighters.

Meanwhile, police have located a car believed to be part of a hit and run incident in Pimpama overnight.

Police found the car at 5.50am on Dixon Drive this morning after an earlier report of an assault in the area.

The car is believed to have collided with the other car before driving off without stopping.

Police are continuing to investigate.
