The Czech brand’s new high-rider is built on the versatile MQB platform that also spawns the new Volkswagen T-Cross and T-Roc SUVs.

But instead of two different SUVs, Skoda has split the difference and built a versatile vehicle that straddles both segments. Similar to the Kia Seltos it is not too big and not too small.

Initially Skoda will offer the Kamiq in three grades.

Inside Skoda has kitted out the Kamiq with all the modern conveniences. An eight-inch display is compatible with Apple CarPlay, which will be joined by Android Auto at the end of this year. There is a wireless charging pad and the Volkswagen Group’s excellent digital cockpit as standard. An eight speaker stereo takes care of the entertainment.

The Limited Edition adds a bigger infotainment screen and wireless Apple CarPlay along with leather accented seats.

The Monte Carlo gets sporty black exterior highlights, metal sports pedals and a unique driving mode.

There’s a wide array of standard equipment including auto emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, and drive fatigue detection.

All Skodas are backed by a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
