These five products can help you get a better night sleep

FROM a $720 gadget to nothing at all, here are five solutions you can implement to give you a restful, comfy sleep tonight.

How to fall asleep in 60 seconds

PRESIDENT Donald Trump says he needs only about four hours sleep a night.

While this seems to work for the leader of the free world, it’s hard to ignore the advice that most healthy adults need between seven to nine hours per night to function at their best.

But if you’re not one of those people who fall asleep as soon as their head hits the pillow, getting the right amount of shut-eye can be more than a little challenging at times.

Thankfully there are a number of free — and slightly more expensive options — that can make those sleepless nights spent counting sheep become a thing of the past.

Here are the five best ways to ensure you function at your best:

iPHONE TRICK

You don’t need to drop hundreds of dollars to help you get a good night sleep. In fact, if you own an iPhone, you can get an amazing night’s shut-eye using a simple hack.

As evidence suggests blue light from our smartphone screens can mess with your circadian rhythm — the body’s master clock — some Apple iPhones now have a feature called Night Shift.

The feature shifts your screen to warmer colours at night, before returning back to normal in the morning.

Included as standard on the iPhone, Night Shift can be turned on and off manually or you can schedule a time for the feature to turn on automatically.

To set up the feature go Settings>Display & Brightness>Night Shift.

AROMAREST

It might not seem like it, but sight, smell and hearing all play a vital role in your ability to sleep. This is where Aromarest comes into play.

“Aromarest restores your natural ability to sleep well with simulated sunrises and sunsets, soothing sounds and dual aromatherapy diffusers,” the company explained.

The all-in-one device starts by releasing soothing scents, melatonin-inducing lighting and gentle sounds, which all promise to help you fall asleep faster.

Once asleep, the Aromarest will play the user’s selection of “sleep-promoting white noise” to help ensure a comfortable rest throughout the night.

When morning comes, the daylight-simulating lights will slowly brighten as the peaceful sounds grow louder to raise you from your slumber relaxed.

The Aromarest will go on sale later this year, although no pricing has been made available.

SLEEPSCORE MAX

We all know there are a number of smartwatches and apps that promise to track your sleep, but not everyone wants to take their device to bed.

This is where SleepScore Labs Max comes into play.

After 10 years in development, the company has created a bedside sleep tracker that requires only proximity to track your sleeping data, removing the need for physical contact.

The device, which looks like a tiny speaker, picks up movement to one-tenth of a millimetre by using bio-motion sensors to measure your respiration and body movement.

Max will then use a connected app to inform you of your sleep scores and personalised insights to ensure a better night sleep.

The company claim the science-based advice offered by the app has been shown to enhance sleep quality in as little as one week.

Sleepscore Max retails for $190.00.

SOMNOX SMART SLEEP ROBOT

If someone said there was a pillow that cost more than $700 that could help you sleep, what would your thoughts be?

Before you answer, maybe you should hear what the product offers to do.
“When spooning the sleep robot during the night you will be soothed to sleep by tickling the senses to relax body and mind,” the company explained.

The robot pillow will play soothing sounds when being cuddles and also breathes steadily along with you.

Somnox claim this will provide a physical sensation that will subconsciously influence your own breathing rhythm to help you fall asleep faster.

Inside the device are also a number of sensors that have yet to be activated, but the company said these will eventually offer sleep tracking, which can be used to offer insights and advice on how to sleep better.
The Somnox Smart Sleep Robot sells for $A720, plus delivery.

The company said the mattress design is the result of research based on “profiling more than 10 million people and 180 million body profile data points”.

Using this information, the UK start-up which just launched in Australia, was able to deliver a mattress built for optimal sleep by using an engineered support base, conical pocket springs and memory foam.

These design feature allows people to sleep side-by-side with interrupting each other, regardless of their different sleeping patterns and body types.

The mattress also includes a hypo-allergenic air flow sleep surface provides freshness and temperature control.
