Russian explorer captures amazing images from inside forgotten military graveyard in Russia
A RUSSIAN explorer has broken into a forgotten military graveyard armed with a camera and taken breathtaking images of a rusted and abandoned naval fleet.
A RUSSIAN explorer has found his way into a forgotten military graveyard to photograph a frigate built for the Soviet Navy known as the Neukrotimiy.
When Vladimir Mulder entered the prohibited area of Kaliningrad — a Russian owned sea port city located between Poland and Lithuania — he found it was filled with huge corroded containers that were once used as part of the Russian naval fleet.
Despite costing millions of dollars to produce, Mulder discovered the ships had been stripped of any precious metals and equipment and now simply lie abandoned on the coast of the Baltic Sea.
Mulder said his main aim was to find and photograph the Neukrotimiy, but he was amazed at what else he found.
“It is a strange feeling to walk near these giant machines, I find it hard to imagine how people can build them and then just forget about them,” he said.
It is believed that the Neukrotimiy sunk during a military exercise involving mines before being quickly stripped and cut in half as a way of disguising the real reason for the boat sinking.
While the truth is not known, these breathtaking images give a glimpse inside a unique naval history.
