ONE of the world’s most prestigious supercar manufacturers could be interested in branching out into a whole new world of design.
ONE of the world’s most prestigious supercar manufacturers could soon be branching out into spacecrafts.
Ferrari design director Flavio Manzoni recently unveiled his concept for a super-futuristic spaceship.
“It all started as a bit of fun,” he told Form Trends.
Mr Manzoni first sketched his ideas, which were brought to life in a 3D model by fellow Ferrari colleague Guillaume Vasseur.
The design shares many trademark characteristics of the car manufacturer including a front end that mimics the F1-derived spoiler used on the LaFerrari and the rear spoiler from the track-only FXX K.
“I tried to imagine something that can fly into the future, since there will be less and less space available on the ground, and I focused on creating a little craft that’s different from my childhood dream,” he said.
Mr Manzoni explained his childhood in Sardinia was responsible for his long-running infatuation with spacecrafts.
“I lived in a six-storey building, with a large terrace at the top,” he said.
“I thought that one day a UFO would land there. It disturbed me a little, but I was curious.”
While there appears to be no immediate plans for Ferrari to create the design, the innovative thinking is exciting nonetheless.
