A cringe-worthy rap video from Australian tech giant Canva has gone viral on social media after their Los Angeles conference last week.

The conference celebrated the company’s 10th year and launched new products for its web-based design software.

Opinions were split on the rap performance.

One person wrote on X that they had cancelled their subscription to the web-based provider, while another commended them for their effort.

“While a lot of people aren’t impressed by this ... it’s actually got them a lot of publicity ... probably lots more sales too,” one person said.

Canva co-founder and chief operating officer Cliff Obrecht said the rap was “by far” his favourite part of the conference.

“Tech company product launches have essentially tried to be Steve Jobs launching the iPhone since that happened,” he said on a LinkedIn post.

“We decided to be ourselves, do something different and not take ourselves too seriously. Haters gonna hate.

“I hope, like this guy suggests, others add more entertainment value to their corporate events too.

The Australian tech company launched in 2013 with a web-based graphic design software that is easy to use and boasts about 185 million customers.

The conference marked a “momentous step” in Canva’s journey as they took to the stage to unveil a whole new Canva, designed for work.
