Zelda, Mario - all the classic video games we miss
VIDEO games may be blowing our minds with their insane graphics and intuitive ways to play, but remember the simpler days of Mario, Tony Hawke and Zelda? Us too.
VIDEO games may be blowing our minds with their insane graphics and intuitive ways to play, but remember the gold old days, the simpler days when you didn't have to wait two hours to install updates before you played?
When instead of worrying about scratches you had to worry about blowing dust out of the cartridge? Those were the days. So here are the games that we all miss most.
The original Super Mario Bros.
The Nintendo Entertainment System was responsible for bringing video games back to life, and Super Mario Bros. was its flagship. Sure, they're been remakes in recent years, but none have ever been as good as the original - kicking turtles, dodging squid over 32 stages. It also had a heap of secret searching and replay value with things like its hidden one-up in the first stage and its warp zone. Plus lets not forget that the little Italian man is probably the most recognisable video game character in the world.
Pokemon Red and Blue
Oh the good old days of 151 Pokemon. These games on the Game Boy started a revolution, sending kids bananas and drying every parent's wallet. There's no denying that Pokemon to this day is still the best role playing game ever. Getting those eight badges was definitely the most important part of my childhood, as well as catching Missingno and making sure Team Rocket with its ridiculously underpowered Pokemon wouldn't ruin the world.
Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2
Sure, the first Tony Hawks Pro Skater was good, but it wasn't anywhere near the level that Pro Skater 2 was, heck no Skateboarding game has ever been as good. Even if you didn't really like skateboarding, you couldn't not like Tony Hawks Pro Skater 2. The moves were perfect, you could replay and lets not forget the awesome punk soundtrack.
The Legend of Zelda
With music that no one will ever forget, on adventures to find the pieces of the Tri-Force people will never forget. It was an epic game that took so long, the game cartridge had to have a battery in it to store game saves. The story was the best of its time, gameplay was addictive and when you thought you had finished it, it just got harder and made you want to play it more.
Super Mario Kart 64
The staple game for every part, Super Mario Kart 64 is still one of the best racing games ever made. The maps are still the best out of any Mario Kart, and single joystick of the Nintendo 64 worked perfectly. But boy didn't you get pissed off if you fell off the edge or were winning before lightning struck.
