IF you're prone to dropping an f-bomb or two when you're playing video games, it's time to clean up your act or this video game will do it for you.

Basketball title NBA 2K14 has a feature that acts like a vigilant mum by punishing you if swear with a penalty in the game. The Xbox One Kinect sensor or PlayStation camera microphone will hear your profanity when the referee calls a personal foul. Do it twice and you'll get an ejection from the game.

The idea follows the real-life penalty for bad language on the court while also bringing a "more civilised environment for our players", said a representative of the game developer, 2K Sports.

Curious cursers keen to find out what they can or cannot say are not in luck as 2K Sports has refused to provide a list of the identifiable profanities but they did say, "the obvious ones are there." You'll just have to play an 'interesting' exhibition match to find out for yourself.

But potty mouths, don't worry because if you don't want your foul language to result in on-court fouls, then gamers are able to disable the voice control option.

Luckily that same feature isn't on all video games or we wouldn't get very far.
