Despite initial backlash, many Netflix users grew confident they would still be able to use workarounds to gain access the content library of the streaming service available overseas.

While this appears to hold truth, things are going to get much harder if you paid for your VPN service using a PayPal account.

The Californian-based online payment provider announced it will be preventing people from violating copyright rules by no longer allowing its customers to pay for VPN using its service.

“As a global payments company, we have to comply with laws set by governments and regulatory agencies,” PayPal said in a statement.

“PayPal does not permit the use of its service for transactions that infringe copyrights or other proprietary rights.”

While PayPal hopes this will stem geo-dodging Netflix subscribers, there is nothing stopping them from paying for a VPN using their credit cards.

The reality is Netflix will likely never win the geo-blocking war against its paid subscribers with geo-dodging services deploying countermeasures as soon as the streaming service attempts to stop them.
