LG showcase 55-inch OLED screen stuck to the wall with magnets

REMEMBER how thin your plasma felt when it was compared to your old box of a TV from the 90s? Prepare for that feeling again.

LG's next generation OLED TV

REMEMBER how thin your plasma felt when it was compared to your old box of a TV from the 90s?

Well, a new television from LG is set to make your current TV feel like that box.

The company has unveiled a 55-inch OLED screen that is only 0.97mm thick and weighs a measly 1.9kg.

Its super sleek design means the screen can be attached to a wall with nothing more than a magnetic mat.

Not only does the technology present extreme space saving qualities, but the picture is also much lighter because it emits light itself based on the electric current.

That is seriously thin..

For now, the TV is just a prototype used to show off the company’s OLED technology and will need some work before going on sale to the public.

However, head of LG Display’s OLED division Yeo Sang-deog said the company has products in the works.

“We should be able to supply a satisfactory volume to our clients from July or August, which means we’re hoping to buckle down production as well as promotion from the third quarter,” he told reporters at a press conference.

The company will keep its focus on large screens, with plans to introduce an OLED panel as big as 99 inches before the years end.
