Aldi Special Buys pull advertised 58-inch 4K TV

Shoppers were preparing to snap up a bargain on a huge TV at a basement price – but their hopes have been dashed.

Shoppers in search of a bargain were preparing to duke it out for a big TV at a rock bottom price this weekend, but all their planning and preparation has been for nought.

Aldi Australia announced the sale on a Bauhn branded 58-inch 4K Android television as part of its Special Buys catalogue for this Saturday, September 19.

Aldi Special Buys are a favourite among bargain shoppers and stock is usually limited for the special items, leading some to speculate they would never have been able to get one anyway.

‘They will only have one per store with 100s waiting at the door, Typical ALDI Australia,’ one customer wrote on social media.

It turns out they were being a bit overly ambitious.

The Bauhn TV that was due to go on sale tomorrow has been pulled.

“COVID-19 has impacted the delivery of some of our Special Buys,” Aldi Australia wrote on Facebook Thursday night.

“As a result, the previously advertised 58” 4K Ultra HD Android TV will not be available on the advertised on-sale date of Saturday 19th September.”

“We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment caused. The product will be available at a later date.”

Luckily there are other options.

While 4K TVs used to be high-end tech costing thousands of dollars, the price has been coming down in recent years, particularly for LED models.

If you’re disappointed you won’t get to fight over how ever many Bauhn models arrived at your local store it’s worth having a shop around.

JB Hi-Fi will currently sell you a TCL 55-inch 4K TV for $545.
And Harvey Norman has a similar deal on a Phillips 50-inch 4K for $595.
