WANT a 4K TV for nothing? You better hope Aaron Finch hits a ton at the Sydney Cricket Ground tomorrow.

Cricket is often seen as a way for companies to market new products - from fried chicken to, well, lots more of fried chicken.

But consumer electronics company Soniq has come up with a novel way to target cricket fans tuned in to see Australia take on India in the World Cup tomorrow.

The marketing idea begins with a pun, thanks to opener Aaron Finch.

Soniq has set up the website www.42finch.com and is offering to discount of $5 off the $699 price of a 42-inch Ultra HD 4K TV for every run Finch scores.

If Finch notches up his batting average of 38, people will be able to pick up the TV at a $190 discount.

But if you leave it too long to order the TV online, and Finch gets out, then the price of the TV goes back up to the regular price.

If the batting gods are good to Finch on the day and he scores a century, Soniq will give away as many of the 42-inch TVs it left from the original batch of about 100 it is throwing into the ring for the 42-Finch marketing pitch.

If you’re looking for a bargain, the signs could be good. Yesterday Finch told media “I’m hitting the ball nicely and I’m looking for big runs.”
