SONY is winning the console race as new figures reveal the new PS4 has shipped over 2.1 million units globally since its launch just a few weeks ago.

Xbox One vs PS4: which one is better?

Sony and Microsoft have gone head-to-head by releasing their respective next-generation consoles in the past two weeks and they've both flown off the shelves as the Xbox One and PS4 both broke one million sales in 24-hours.

Since then, the PS4 has nosed ahead by publishing the news of breaking the two million barrier and announcing that it is officially the fastest-selling console in UK history.

Sony's blog addressed the news by saying: "it's an impressive and record-setting accomplishment".

"The best part: the PS4 journey has just begun … we will continue to introduce valuable new features and services to PS4."

The reason behind the roaring success could be down to the fact the PS4 is cheaper than the Xbox One. Despite not being bundled with its PlayStation motion-sensing camera, it appears people aren't that fussed.

Compared to the PS3, which took two months to sell just one million units, the PS4 sales figure is phenomenal. While the PS4 still has a way to go to beat PS3's 80 million sales to date, but at this rate it's on the right track to break its record.
