Hipsters take to Twitter as Vine and Instagram crash
INSTAGRAM and Vine crashed at the same time this morning, leaving the world with nothing to do but complain on Twitter.
IF a selfie happens and Instagram and Vine are down, can you hear millions of internet hipsters scream?
The question was answered this morning with a global tweets of anguish as two of the most popular photograph and video sharing mediums went offline simultaneously, forcing people to take to Twitter to complain that nobody would see their duck-faced selkies or enjoy a picture of their lunch.
One of the most popular tweets shared by frustrated photographers was the theory that this was Vine and Instagram's way of telling the world to go outside.
Instagram also took to Twitter to touch base with its frustrated users.
"We know many of you are having trouble loading Instagram. We identified the issue and are working to fix it ASAP. Thanks for holding on," the official Instagram twitter account announced about 6.50am AEST.
Vine also spoke to frustrated video makers on Twitter. "We're aware of some issues affecting our servers and are working to address them now. Thanks for your patience and hang tight!," it tweeted at 7.20am AEST.
With 40 million photos uploaded to Instagram every day, you don't have to be a genius to work out that damage every minute Instagram is down - you just need a calculator.
And thanks to a calculator, we can tell you every dead minute for Instagram, that is 27,777 photos not posted. That works out to about 460 photos a second the world is waiting to share.
For hipsters who like to share their every waking moment with a filter-enhanced photo, this is a day to tell the grandkids about.
