World of Warcraft Classic launch — lengthy server queues expected

It’s one of the most successful games of all time and now an original version has fans lining up to play.

Should you be worried about Fortnite?

The wait is over for fans of hit video game World of Warcraft (WoW) as WoW Classic launched today.

The game is set to take players back to basics as it aims to be more like the original version released back in 2004.

Blizzard Entertainment, the game’s developer, has come under pressure from fans to revive the old version.

WoW Classic won’t be exactly the same as the game from more than a decade ago but will try to replicate the best features of the beloved original.

The fantasy multi-player game involves characters roaming around a magical world and fighting monsters or each other.

Some lucky people have been given access to the game already, but this led to Blizzard having to announce that some of the original features have actually been mistaken for errors.

World of Warcraft had around 12 million active players at its peak.

The original game was known for having a slower pace, but some users missed the simplicity of it compared with later versions.

The number of people playing the hit game has declined over the years, but Blizzard is expecting World of Warcraft Classic to be so popular that players will have to queue to get inside realms during the games launch.

Blizzard will also be adding more Classic servers to help with demand.
