Tyler “Ninja” Blevins returns to Twitch after Mixer shuttered

One of gaming’s biggest names has returned to the platform he left after an ill-fated multimillion-dollar deal with a competitor.

Gaming superstar Tyler “Ninja” Blevins has announced he will return exclusively to the Twitch streaming platform that made him famous after an an ill-fated move to a competitor.

Ninja was hugely popular on the platform before he left for a multimillion-dollar deal at Microsoft’s competing Mixer platform.

But that was shuttered in June and the scraps became Facebook Gaming.

Ninja’s next home was subject to speculation until he finally confirmed he would return to Twitch on an exclusive, multi-year deal.

The Amazon-owned streaming site responded to the tweet, saying it was “great to have Team Ninja back on our side”.

The two parties had been on less than stellar terms in the lead up to and following Ninja’s departure.

His manager and wife Jessica Blevins told Business Insider following the move that Ninja’s contract with Twitch was too restrictive and was impacting on his off-platform plans.

He was also furious that his account was used to promote another channel that streamed porn, shortly after it was unverified following the announcement he was leaving for Mixer.

Since leaving, Ninja has signed deals with Adidas and Walmart and landed a small role in a Ryan Reynolds film.

Ninja's Adidas sneaker released at the end of last year.

Gaming personalities and brands regularly look to move outside gaming.

Probably the most notable example is FaZe Clan, which began as a group of gamers making trickshot videos but is now transitioning into a culture and lifestyle brand.

They’ve received investment from the likes of Migos rapper Offset and Australian basketballer Ben Simmons, and recently announced LeBron James son as an informal member.
