Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Ubisoft take down leaked gameplay
The developers of an upcoming video game have scrambled to have leaked footage of the game’s first mission taken off the internet.
Ubisoft has managed to take down videos of leaked gameplay for the upcoming instalment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise expected to arrive later this year.
Around 30 minutes of gameplay leaked online, reportedly from a work-in-progress build of the game, according to online video game publication Eurogamer.
The last proper game in the franchise was 2018’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, centred around a war between Athens and Sparta.
The Assassin’s Creed games often blend real life history into the gameplay and the next instalment will be no exception.
The first bit of gameplay shows an assault on the Burgh Castle in the east of England (fitting with the Norse geography), including some naval gameplay, before some more combat, culminating in a decision over what to do with the castle’s owner.
The leaked videos were the first glimpse of gameplay from the upcoming game, despite Ubisoft already releasing two teaser trailers.

The gaming community has learned its lessons over the years about pre-ordering video games where developers are hesitant to release gameplay in advance, and the ongoing move away from physical media has made pre-orders less and less important for consumers who want to play on launch day.
Ubisoft still has several months to show off more footage before the game is released however, and given the leaked footage appears to be from a build of the game that is still being worked on, it’s understandable they’d want it taken down.
Links to the leaked videos now direct to empty web pages, so it looks like we’ll have to wait until Ubisoft decide to show off more details themselves.
