Man crashes car playing Pokemon, woman gets stuck in graveyard
IT WAS only a matter of time before Pokemon Go created carnage on the roads and now the game has caused its first accident.
THE augmented reality concept of Pokemon Go, which combines computer generated images over the real world, was always going to cause some problems.
People have already complained of tripping over or hurting themselves because they were not paying attention to their surroundings.
But these events seem small fry compared to an incident that occurred in New York overnight.
It was only a matter of time before Pokemon Go created carnage on the roads and now the game has caused its first accident.
The local police issued a statement saying it responded to a car accident involving an injured driver after crashing into a tree.
“The driver admitted to actively playing the Pokemon Go game while driving causing him to become distracted and run off the roadway into a tree,” the statement said.
“Luckily the driver was not seriously injured but this is an example of how easily accidents can occur when someone is engaged in the game and not paying attention.
“The accident investigation is ongoing.”
The news comes as video footage surfaced of a woman stuck in a graveyard after it closed while she was busy trying to “catch ‘em all”.
“So, I get to the graveyard to catch some Pokemon, and the gate was open, cause I got in here,” the woman can be heard saying.
“And the gate is f****** closed and I’m trapped in the f****** graveyard and I have tears coming down my eyes cause I’m freaking out.
“I called 911 to come open the f****** gate, this is not cool,” she adds, as she starts to sob.
“I’m trapped in the f****** graveyard, who the f*** gets trapped in the graveyard.”
The woman then finds a sign telling her to push a button to exit the graveyard if the gate is closed.
Unfortunately, the button is broken and the woman becomes more outraged.
It is unclear when or how the lady was able to escape the graveyard.
