THE world of app gaming has claimed an unlikely victim. Everyone has their vices, but John Lydon’s is an odd one.

EVERYONE has their vices.

For the lead singer of iconic punk band, The Sex Pistols, you would be forgiven for thinking those vices consisted of sex, drugs and rock n’ roll.

But at the very least you’d have to add one more to the list: iPad apps.

John Lydon was the lead singer of the British band throughout their successful tenure in the music industry as they came to define the punk-rock genre.

Mr Lydon now fronts a ‘post-punk’ band called Pil. But when he’s not doing that it appears as though he likes to kick back with a few iPad games.

In an interview with British paper, The Telegraph, the artist formerly known as Johnny Rotten revealed the extent to which he has binged on Apple’s tablet games.

“I wasted — you’re the first to know this — 10,000 fu***ng pounds in the last two years on apps on my iPad. I got into Game of Thrones, Game of War, Real Racing and I just wanted to up the ante. And like an idiot I didn’t check myself,” he said.

A number of stories have emerged about young children unwittingly racking up huge bills by playing iPad games but what makes this unique is the willingness — in which an otherwise self-described frugal person — spent so much on apps.

Other revelations from the interview which was curiously focused on Mr Lydon’s finances included that he would squat with friend Sid Vicious or bunk on the subway even after the Sex Pistols became famous.
