Fortnite for Android release date leaked — battle royale mobile game tipped for timed-exclusive on Samsung Galaxy Note 9

IF Samsung has truly snagged the exclusive rights to the game, it could see Fortnite for Android released in less than a month

Should you be worried about Fortnite?

THE GOOD news is Fortnite for Android is potentially less than a month away, the bad news is you’ll need a pricey Samsung Galaxy Note 9 to play it.

Fans of the game already know that it’s been available on iPhones since March, with Android phone owners promised a late Winter release.

Now we’re hearing the game will be a timed-exclusive on Samsung’s huge flagship, due to be unveiled on August 9.

Fortnite will initially limited to the Galaxy Note 9 for an entire month, after which it will land on the Google Play Store for all Android devices.

Rumours suggest Samsung’s phone will be available for pre-order August 14 and officially released on August 24.

It’s not clear, however, if the free-to-play game will come pre-loaded on the device when it arrives.

If the tip (via 9to5Google) is accurate, it means Fortnite will be widely available to all Android users a month later around September 23.

So mark that, tentative, date on your calendar and make sure to keep an eye on the Google Play Store.

Whether or not the new Galaxy Note’s S Pen will come handy on the battlefield remains to be seen — though we doubt a stylus can boost your building skills.

The exclusive launch is only part of Samsung’s Fortnite onslaught.

Other battle royale-themed goodies aimed at early Note 9 buyers include $100-$150 worth of V-Bucks for in-game use if you pre-order the blower, which amounts to roughly 10,000-14,000 of the in-game tokens.

That way you can go on a spending spree on the Fortnite item shop before playing the Android game proper.

And if you couldn’t care less about the gaming phenomenon, you can snag some wireless AKG headphones instead.

Fortnite is reportedly making its developer Epic Games around $2 million each day on iPhone alone.

We know all there is to know about Samsung’s new device at this stage, thanks to spoilers galore.

Leaks have revealed how it looks, its specs, and even how it handles.

In short, the device looks identical to the Note 8, it features a fingerprint sensor below the horizontal, rear dual-lens camera, with upgrades to its battery (4,00mAh), photography (primarily due to new algorithms for better performance and optical stabilisation), more RAM to help it speed through tasks (6GB on the base model and a beefier 8GB model).

Storage includes 128GB, 256GB and 512GB versions — though it’s unclear if all of these variants will be available in Australia.

The Note 9 debuts in less than two weeks.
