LET’S not deny it, we are a nation of whingers, and we are being encouraged to keep on complaining through a new app.

FEEL like having a whinge?

Of course you do — you’re human.

People use any excuse to complain, it’s Monday, you’re stuck in traffic or your coffee is cold.

All you want is for somebody to acknowledge and justify your bad mood.

Well now there is a phone app that encourages you to vent and will make sure you’re heard.

Winja launched just three weeks ago and people are already jumping at the opportunity to declare how they’ve been hard done by.

People are complaining about the everything from public toilets to the cost of coffee and businesses are under the microscope like never before.

The app has so far proved we sweat the small stuff with one man whining about the cost of Push Pops, a pricey $1.20, and another complaining about a lack of avocado on her Subway.

“Wow Subway way to charge me for avo and not put it on, so rude #annoyed #thoughtyouweresandwichartists,” she said.

Another man used the app to really express his feelings on Arnott’s new flavoured Shapes.

“New and NOT improved #arnotts #shapes. I’m devo, why have you ruined my snack vibes with this inferior Shape flavour?” he said.

“When will this madness end? What’s next #timtams?

“If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.”

Winja co-founders Chris Rozic and Cos Luccitti came up with the idea for people to air their grievances on an app to clean criticism off Facebook and Twitter and get businesses to take complaints seriously.

“Winja is a space for people to vent and get things off their chests,” Mr Rozic said.

“Businesses can then learn more about how to make better decisions operationally and improve their customers’ experience.

“Complaints are not always about the service so this will help businesses make better decisions on how to be more customer led.”

While complaints are easily ignored on social media, Mr Rozic wanted to create a place where businesses had to address complaints and resolve them to keep the customer happy.

“Businesses will be able to get insight to make better decisions to create and maintain relationships with customers,” he said.

Most of those who have so far complained on Winja have a gripe with insurance, telecommunications and supermarket giants.

Mr Rozic wants to change the art of complaining and help people do it respectfully and efficiently to actually get a response.

People who complain on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter often get ignored and Mr Rozic wants to help complaints be addressed.

TNS Global research found 30 per cent of people complained online to express negative feelings and 23 per cent did it out of revenge.

About 70 per cent of people who complain want a response but only 38 per cent receive one.

Mr Rozic said Winja worked in a way similar to Twitter or Facebook.

There is a feed where people can publicly post their criticisms and can tag businesses and use hashtags.

Mr Rozic said they wanted to create a nation of whingers.

“I think it’s important for customers to whinge so they can feel some resolution and help other consumers make better decisions,” he said.

“If businesses positively resolve issues, from my perspective that would be a good thing to do because it shows they care and are willing to repair issues as opposed to taking it offline.”
