CAN’T be bothered sending a loving message to your girlfriend? Don’t worry, because the BroApp will do it for you.

Two Brisbane-based app developers have created BroApp, which will automatically send messages like “Hi babe, how was day?”

Tom and James, the two developers who declined to reveal their full names, say the idea came to Tom when he noticed his girlfriend became annoyed if he forgot to text her.

Tom said creating the prototype of the app caused him a few hassles along the way.

One early version of the app sent a message when Tom was sitting next to his girlfriend on the couch.

Another version sent the message “Hi babe, how was your day?” just after he received a message from his girlfriend saying “worst day ever”.

The app comes with 12 built-in messages, such as “Hi darl, how did you go today?”

But, as James says, fortunately you can replace the automatic messages with your own personal ones because some feedback from early international users included confusion about what a “darl” was.

Tom says the difficult part of developing the app was confessing to his girlfriend that he had been trialling it on her for three months without her knowing.

Perhaps not coincidentally, when News Corp Australia interviewed Tom and James online for this story, Tom was also in a Skype conversation with his girlfriend.

When there’s a video hook-up, even Bro App can’t help a bloke out.

To use BroApp, you input your girlfriend’s number, select or create some loving messages, set the time of day when you want them sent and you’re good to go.

The app will not send a message if you’re at your girlfriend’s place or if you have recently exchanged a text message with your girlfriend.

While the idea of automatic loving messages might not be some people’s cup of tea, James says the feedback from the app’s early users is that it can only help their relationship.

He did not say whether that feedback came from the boyfriends who used BroApp or their girlfriends who are under the impression that their boyfriends are super-caring guys.

Android users who want their smartphone to take over some of the sometimes painful process of communicating in their relationship can download the app now from the Google Android store for $1.99.

But there is hope for lazy boyfriends who have an iPhone — there’s an iOS app in the works too.
