Trevor Jackson’s new album released on 12 retro formats

IF you thought vinyl was retro, wait and see what artist Trevor Jackson’s upcoming release has in store.

Two vinyl records.
Two vinyl records.

RIDING on the wave of the vinyl resurgence, London-based director, producer, and visual artist Trevor Jackson has decided to take things to the next level.

To celebrate the nostalgia of the analog years, the artist will release his latest album, F O R M A T, in nearly every physical medium that exists.

Record label and pressing plant The Vinyl Factory will produce and distribute the album that will be released for a limited time across 12 different mediums, with each getting just one of the 12 tracks.

The mediums of release will include 7-inch, 10-inch, and 12-inch vinyl, 8-track tape, reel-to-reel tape, cassette, DAT, CD and mini CD, USB, VHS and Sony Mini Disc.

“Every copy of a physical recording is different, a real object that has its own little story — a one of a kind, personalised by the effort you put in to purchase it, each time you touch it, and the unique ritual that goes along with playing it,” Jackson said to the Vinyl Factory.

The album itself will include a selection from Jackson’s backlog of unreleased tracks, remastered and re-edited specifically for the project.

F O R M A T will be released in February 2015 in 12 different limited edition formats, with vinyl and digital album versions to be released a month later.
