Apple app store prices to rise: report
WE’RE not ’appy: A leaked report reveals of impending price rises for Australian users of the Apple app store.
APPLE has notified app store developers that prices on apps will rise in the next 24 hours in a range of countries including Australia.
Website MacRumors quoted the note sent out to app developers, which states that prices will rise in Australia, India, Indonesia, Turkey and South Africa due to “changes in foreign exchange rates”.
Prices in Israel and New Zealand are set to decrease as part of the same adjustment.
It remains unclear to what level we’ll see app store price rises, because they’re tied into a pricing matrix that app developers themselves can choose from.
It’s not likely they’ll be large scale rises based on the difference between the Australian dollar and the US dollar.
Apple stated that “we made some minor pricing adjustments due to changes in foreign exchange rates and local tax laws.”
