Streamer builds dunk-tank for difficult video game
A gamer from the US has found a unique way to secure followers on streaming platform Twitch, by giving himself a brutal challenge on an already tricky game.
A US streamer has attracted attention by sentencing himself to a unique punishment on his Twitch channel each time he failed.
Every time KeatDawg fails, his avatar is dropped into a dunk tank of icy water and he’s so far undertaken hundreds of punishing dunks.
Becoming e-famous is difficult, believe it or not. There are thousands and thousands of people trying to make it big, but the market of “person playing games” is fairly saturated at this point.
Streaming platform Twitch has a big problem of lacking support for smaller streamers, and the majority of the viewers tend to flock towards the big-name stars.
To truly stand out, you have gotta do something unique. Something uncommon enough, and yet interesting enough, to warrant people checking you out over big name streamers like HasanAbi or moistcrit1kal.
And KeatDawg figured out just how to do that: build a dunk tank and play a really, really hard game that dunks you when you fail (thanks, PCGamer).
Here’s the premise: KeatDawg is playing a game called Jump King, a very difficult platforming game that, if a player fails most jumps, will see them set back a significant amount of progress. It’s tough on its own, but KeatDawg took it to the next level by adding in an additional challenge — taking an unwanted dip in cold water live for his followers with every failure.
Absolutely unreal stream thanks for all the support even though I made negative progress in game. I didn't know what I was getting into but there is more to come soon <3 pic.twitter.com/TeoWwwqt2s

If KeatDawg fails a jump, his dunk tank activates and he takes a nice, cold bath. KeatDawg has been going at it since August, and he’s approaching 300 dunks as of this article — and he’s only cleared about 30 per cent of the game, if that. If you’re interested in watching the modern-day equivalent of a dunk-tank clown, give him a follow on his Twitch.
Twitch has had an explosive past couple of weeks, with the platform making headlines for dark reasons. A recent report showed that child predators are running rampant on the platform, despite Twitch’s best efforts to prevent it, with 279,016 children being targeted.
The platform has also recently had to lower its max resolution in South Korea, citing rising costs in operations — despite the reasons, Twitch fans in South Korea are quite upset at the hit to gaming the change is bringing.
