Steam gets Spotify Wrapped-like feature

Valve’s digital distribution platform Steam got a brand new feature that acts like a Spotify Wrapped for your PC games

Monster Hunter Rise is coming to Xbox Game Pass

Valve has released a new feature for its digital PC games distribution platform Steam in the form of a Spotify Wrapped-style roundup of everything players have played on PC this year.

Other games companies, like Nintendo and PlayStation, released their own versions of this feature earlier in the month, and have done so in previous years, too. This is the first time Steam has released such a feature, and players are excited for Steam creator Valve to finally be getting in on the fun.

Much like the PlayStation and Nintendo equivalents, Steam’s wrap up service, called Steam Replay 2022, shows players their most-played games, how long they spent on each game, the number of sessions for games, trophies earned and even an entire list of every game played.

Players can share their Steam Replay link with others so friends can see the full data, or save specific graphics or stats to share on social media. Unfortunately there’s no tool to share those graphics and stats to social media automatically, but there are options for saving the graphics so at least users won’t have to screenshot them themselves.

End of year wrap up services like this have become wildly popular on social media services like Twitter and Instagram in recent years. The most popular by far has been Spotify Wrapped, which started in December 2016 and has seen wild success in every subsequent year.

Valve has been on a bit of a hot streak lately with Steam, with the release of a dedicated handheld console for playing Steam games, the Steam Deck, earlier this year. Despite the Steam Deck’s wild success, it’s still not yet available in Australia officially, and Valve have kept quiet on an official release in the country.

In a strange twist, however, some Australians will be able to play Steam Deck-certified games in their electric vehicles. Tesla recently announced that it’s putting Steam games in its cars, using the Steam Deck certification process to provide access to those games.

It comes after Indie developers said that Tesla wanted their games in cars for free. Two independent developers said that the electric vehicle manufacturer reached out to them and asked them to port their games to the vehicles at no cost to the company. Both of them declined to do so.
