The BBC has revealed that Ubisoft’s classic hit Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell will be turned into an eight-part audio drama, and some surprisingly big names will be lending their voices to the production.

As reported by VGC, lead Sam Fisher will be voiced by Andonis Anthony, whose performance has previously been featured in the BBC’s long-running The Archers radio drama. Daisy Head, of Guilt and Ophelia fame, will play Sam Fisher’s daughter Sarah, while Rosalie Craig, Sacha Dhawan, Nikesh Patel, and Will Poulter have all been cast in undisclosed roles.

Will Poulter in particular is a big get, having previously starred in the Maze Runner film series, as well as movies like We’re the Millers and more recently in Supermassive Games’ The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope.

In a statement, Poulter said that he was looking forward to fans listening to the drama, and noted that it’s expanded beyond what the original game had to offer.

“I really hope fans of the Splinter Cell game enjoy this, as not only does it have all the action, tension and excitement that the game is famous for, but it also has more elements,” Poulter said, “There is a lot of comedy, the drama is expanded and horizons broadened by the characters and what they get up to. It is taking the best of Splinter Cell and building on that to make something really well rounded.”

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell was originally released on the Xbox in late-2002, and was subsequently re-released on PC, PlayStation 2, GameCube, and more in the years following. The game focused on stealth gameplay, and was heavily inspired by Metal Gear Solid. It was released to near-universal acclaim from press and fans alike, with many praising its story, gameplay, and graphics.

Ubisoft recently announced it was working on a remake of the game, with Ubisoft Toronto rebuilding the game from the ground up in Ubisoft’s in-house Snowdrop Engine.

In other video game adaptation news, The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt showed off the game’s next-gen update recently, and revealed that it would be getting a new quest line inspired by the Netflix adaptation. The update also improves the game’s visuals and adds a photo mode, as well as a host of quality of life changes and additions.

It’s not the only game getting an update either, with Nintendo Switch Sports finally getting its golf game mode. The mode was announced before the game even released back in May, but was delayed so it could be polished a little more before release.
