FIFA 23: 5 Key Changes We Want To See in the Next Game

EA’s FIFA, one of the best-selling games in the world, will feature two people on its cover – and one of them is Sam Kerr, Australia’s superstar women’s soccer player.

She’ll be the first woman to take pride of place on a global cover, alongside France’s Kylian Mbappé, who returns for the third straight year. Mbappé plays for Paris Saint-Germain, while Kerr plays for Chelsea in the UK.

Kerr is one of the most talented athletes in the sport, recognised as one of if not the best striker in women’s football. Her work at Chelsea earned her Player of the Season and Golden Boot awards, as well as two championship trophies. She played for the Australian national side as early as 15, and scored at just 16.

She was a part of the 2010 AFC Women’s Asian Cup winning side, and will naturally be playing in the Women’s World Cup in 2023, hosted in Australia and New Zealand.

FIFA 23 will be the last version of the game to carry that title, ending a thirty-year history. EA will continue to develop their soccer series, titling it EA Sports FC, but FIFA will be developing with an as-yet undisclosed partner to continue the FIFA series. We’ll see who wins that battle.

With the game coming in hot, a lot more details are set to be announced over the next few weeks. It’s expected to release in September to match up with previous dates for other games in the series. It will be available on every platform you can think of, and probably a few you can’t.
