A player of the hit mobile game Marvel Snap has reportedly spent over $7000 on the game to become the first player in the world to hit the maximum level.

Marvel Snap is an award-winning mobile card game where players have to create decks to compete each against each other and win additional rewards. The game doesn’t contain any pay-to-win elements, but it does let players spend real money to speed up their progress.

A player called Aaron posted to the game’s official Discord server today asking if the development team had any plans to increase the maximum collection level, because they had already reached the maximum level of 22,366.

A Marvel Snap developer called it an “impressive achievement”, adding that it was a world-first for the game and promising to increase the maximum level in a future update.

Marvel Snap was released in June 2022, and under normal circumstances it would not be possible to reach the maximum level in that amount of time. As a result, many players started speculating that the player must have spent a lot of money on the game.

Users of the Discord server and the game’s subreddit quickly put together estimates of how much money has to have been spent to achieve the level. The calculations put forward by the community suggested Aaron had spent upwards of $15,000 on the game.

Aaron denied this though, saying that they’d only spent about $7000 on Marvel Snap. The feat seems to have been achieved through the use of an unusual and powerful type of deck composition.

Players in the Discord noted that Aaron runs a deck based on the card Agatha Harkness, which takes control of the match for the player after being summoned. This lets players step away from the game, essentially having the game play itself.

Some players even set up automated scripts for the game, which search and enter matches and then play the Agatha card, allowing the entire game to be played 24/7 without the player ever needing to interact with it. This, combined with paid experience boosts, could be how Aaron so quickly achieved the high score, but the player has so far remained quiet on exactly how they did it.

In other Marvel game news, it was recently announced by developer Crystal Dynamics that its Avengers game would be ending support in 2023. The game was first released in 2020 and received lacklustre reviews upon launch, leading to a dwindling player base for the triple-A game.

Electronic Arts recently said that it’s developing three new Marvel games, after striking a deal with Marvel. The first of the three games is said to be an Iron Man game, which is being developed by Dead Space remake developer EA Motive.
