Game trick earns you Overwatch 2 skins faster

Players are realising that instead of relying on Overwatch 2’s abysmal rewards, they could earn the rewards faster by playing World of Warcraft.

World of Warcraft trick earns you Overwatch 2 skins faster

Players have worked out that is it actually faster to play a completely different game, World of Warcraft, and gain currency in it to unlock Overwatch 2 costumes faster.

Overwatch 2 has had a mixed launch — while it undoubtedly had a lot of players joining in, likely due to it’s free-to-play nature, it has also received no short amount of criticism for its new monetisation schemes. Lootboxes are no longer available, instead forcing players to participate in the new Battle Pass system, which grants less unlocks for a greater time investment.

In fact, costumes, called ‘skins’ in-game, are so much harder to come by now, that players have worked out a trick — simply play another game entirely. That game, of course, is World of Warcraft, and the method described does require some pre-existing experience in WoW.

You see, players can trade items on the Auction House in WoW for Gold, but they can also trade Gold for “WoW Tokens.” These tokens are used to activate a month of game-time for your account and have a set monetary value — you can cash these out for Blizzard credit to use on the Battle.net store.

This means that players with even a small amount of wealth in World of Warcraft can earn Overwatch 2 skins much faster than players actively playing Overwatch 2. For reference, with the in-game dailies and mission rewards, players who only play Overwatch 2 can expect to earn a new skin that costs 1900 Overwatch Coins approximately every 32 weeks.

Or, you could use your World of Warcraft wealth and convert two tokens to Battle.net credit, and buy the skin that way.

While the efficiency of playing World of Warcraft to buy Overwatch 2 skins is not exactly impressive, the underlying fact is that Overwatch 2’s mission progression system gives out too few a reward to players interested in collecting skins.
