Game developer guarantees beta access — if fans get a tattoo

Game publisher Blizzard will be giving beta access to a long-awaited game, but fans will have to get a permanent tattoo.

Blizzard Is Giving Diablo 4 Beta Access To Fans Willing to Make a Permanent Tattoo

Blizzard Entertainment, the video game developer behind World of Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo, is guaranteeing Diablo IV beta access for lucky fans, but with a catch.

Those lucky fans have to get a permanent tattoo of Diablo artwork on their body.

Partnering with Hell’s Ink, a touring group of tattoo artists that are travelling around the world, Blizzard Entertainment is giving hardcore fans the opportunity of a lifetime — permanent body ink, beta access, and a free digital copy of the upcoming video game Diablo IV.

Hell’s Ink has been travelling east from the United States and will be making brief stops in London and Berlin before reaching Australia.

“Each Diablo Hell’s Ink takeover event will feature some of the world’s greatest tattoo artists creating bespoke tattoos,” Blizzard posted. “Inspired by the Diablo universe with their own unique art style, for a few of the world’s biggest Diablo fans.”

These fans lucky enough to get inked will also have early access to Diablo IV, a dungeon-crawling and demon-slaying video game scheduled to launch next year.

Some of the tattoos already posted are fantastic, showing skilful linework:

Australians looking for a chance to get their demonic tattoos are in luck — the Hell’s Ink group will be in Melbourne and Sydney in September. However, you have to enter to win one of a handful of slots — specific instructions can be found on Blizzard’s website.

If you don’t win, you can still show up for random lotteries, as well as potentially win a flash ink on a first-come, first-serve basis. Participants must be 18 or older and require a valid ID to win.

The flash inks are all symbols related to the Diablo series, ranging from class icons, buffs and debuffs, and even the game logos themselves:
