Manchester City unveiled new neon yellow jerseys via the Roblox platform today, and announced the collaboration event via Twitter.

Manchester City Reveals Newest Kit in Roblox

Premier League stars Manchester City unveiled their new alternate jerseys for the 22-23 season on Roblox, a gaming platform that lets anyone create and play games.

The current English champions released the designs for their third alternate jerseys on Roblox, announcing the partnership via Twitter. This third jersey is a neon-yellow colour with spray-painted dark bands across the front and back. The spray paint design is inspired by the street art that can be found throughout the city, while the stripes are inspired by the Manchester worker bee, a symbol of the city’s past during industrial times.

The jerseys were also modelled in real-life by Kalvin Phillips, Ruben Dias, and Laura Coombs, players for the Manchester team. The event in-game saw the Roblox lobby that had been redesigned to match Manchester City colours, as well as resemble Ethiad Stadium. Players were able to explore the lobby and try on the new jerseys, as well as the original home jerseys.

A new event was launched as well called ‘Football Rush’, sponsored by Puma. It’s a five-on-five player tournament of Roblox football hosted on YouTube, allowing players a chance to win a portion of a $14,000 AUD prize pool.

Roblox allows users to build video games using build-in objects and assets. The users can then share this game with others, or open it up publicly. It allows users to monetise their games as well, providing a full, if constricted opportunity for aspiring game developers.

Roblox may be enjoying some positive press right now, but it still has its share of headaches. The developer fought a DMCA request over piracy claims after a user sued the company for the names of people stealing his content. Roblox also got caught up in an extortion attempt, after a hacker accessed the personal data of both employees and players alike, and attempted to sell it publicly.
