10 beginner tips for Fall Guys Free For All

Whether you’re new to Fall Guys or returning, we’ve got all the best tips to get you your first crown.

10 Beginner Tips for Fall Guys Free For All

Fall Guys is undergoing the biggest shift since its launch as it goes free to play on June 21. This has brought the game back to the promised land after sharply dropping off in popularity in 2021, and people are looking forward to bouncing around with weird-looking beans all over again. A new season is bringing new rounds, new rewards, and new items to spice things up.

Whether you’re trying the game out for the very first time, or returning after a long time away, you might find yourself out of your depth when going up against advanced players who have stuck with the game over the past couple of years. These tips will help you get back up to speed and keep you on your toes for the many things that could prematurely end your run.

Grab or be grabbed

One thing you’ll immediately notice is how touchy-feely some of the other players can be. The grab button is a great way to traverse terrain or get hold of objects, but it can also be used as a weapon. Once you’ve got hold of someone, they’ll have trouble moving, making shoving them off a ledge easy, plus after a few seconds you’ll ping away from each other, likely sending one of you to your doom.

Dive! Dive! Dive!

Diving is far more that a flourish, it can be used in so many ways. The most obvious is giving you extra length on your jumps, letting you grab faraway ledges with ease or make a clutch save as you avoid falling into the slime. It helps with speed too, as you can recover from a dive a lot faster than a fall. So if you’re taking a tumble, dive before you hit the ground to get going quicker than everyone else.

Don’t Rush

This may sound counterintuitive, especially for the race levels, but you’ll easily find yourself in trouble if you blindly rush into every obstacle. Take a moment to see what the patterns are for any given obstacle and find the perfect moment to run through. The same goes for points-based levels like Hoopsie Legends. Don’t run and fight over the same hoops as everyone else, take a look around for the less populated areas of the map.

Follow the crowd (but not too closely)

Some levels have fairly complex layouts, and on your first few tries, you may not know exactly where to go. Luckily for you, everyone else will know exactly where they’re going, so all you have to do is follow along to qualify. That said, you should avoid being in the main crowd as it severely limits your manoeuvrability, and could see you shoved out of the way and left to be eliminated.

Play defence in team games

Whether it’s Fall Ball or Egg Scramble, your team’s goal needs people to hang back and defend it. Everyone’s initial instinct is to charge at the ball (or the eggs) like madmen to hit it in, which is why you need to be there for when that plan inevitably fails. It’s not the most glorious position, but seeing as no one else is ever willing to do it, it’s the only way to win.

Think ahead

When you’re running past every obstacle it can be easy to lose yourself in the moment, but you need to stay on your toes. How you approach each obstacle can be a big factor in whether or not it sends you flying, so whatever you’re doing, always think ahead to what’s coming next and how you’re going to deal with it. If you’re in a race, you need to be positioning yourself for the next obstacle, or if you’re in a points game, you need to work out where you’re going to get your next goal.

Avoid ledges

Just as you can use grabs to shove unsuspecting fools to their doom, so to can others do that to you. In pretty much every situation, standing right by a ledge is bad. It limits your movement options, makes you an easy target, and puts you one simple mistake away from elimination. The simplest solution is usually the best, so just stay away from the edge and you’ll be safe.

Learn from advanced players

In almost every minigame, you will see players doing seemingly odd things. You might right these people off as idiots, but usually, they’re the people you should be copying. Plenty of levels have strange advanced strategies, like all the weird and wonderful ways you can skip parts of Slime Climb. Assuming they’re not hacking, try and work out what they’re doing, then see if you can copy it to get an edge over everyone else.

Kudos are easy to come by

Kudos are one of the main currencies in the game that you can use to buy all the cool cosmetics and rewards. When you first look in the store you may see something you really want and feel the need to spend real money to get the Kudos immediately, but there’s simply no need. Kudos are handed out quite generously in Fall Guys, and if you have a few decent performances you’ll likely have enough for all but the most expensive costumes.

Copying advanced players is one way to get an edge, but there are plenty of ways to get ahead on levels that even they might not know about. If there’s a particular level you’re struggling with, take a look online for the ways people are staying ahead of the pack. Maybe there’s an easy jump you didn’t notice that will save loads of time. Plenty of other players will be using these techniques anyway, so you may as well join them.
