New iPhones, iPads and AirPods leaked in iOS 14 code
Like most tech companies Apple doesn’t talk about its products before they launch, but they still have to plan ahead. Therein lies the game.
Details of Apple’s upcoming products have been leaked in the source code for its mobile operating system iOS, including one that will be a first for the brand.
The iOS 14 code was obtained and shared by Apple rumour-mill 9to5mac on Tuesday.
Code needs to be written ahead of time to accommodate the new products that will launch around or after the time the software is released, so enthusiasts often investigate code to get the drop on what’s around the corner.
Among the iOS 14 code obtained by 9to5mac are details on a new iPad Pro featuring a triple-lens camera array like the iPhone 11 Pro.
The triple-camera array would also make the iPad Pro better at augmented and virtual reality tasks.

The much-rumoured and now seemingly delayed iPhone 9, a spiritual successor to the widely loved iPhone SE, also appears to be confirmed by the code.
The iPhone 9 looks set to follow the design of the iPhone 8 including a 4.7-inch screen with Touch ID, but the internals will be more powerful.
A new remote for the Apple TV is also reportedly hinted at in the code, which will come as a relief to those who bought the more expensive new Apple TV only to be stuck with a fairly trash remote with a finicky trackpad that more or less forces you to use Siri voice commands.
Apple’s version of the Tile Bluetooth trackers, thought to be called AirTags, also shows up in the code.
The code also contained two icons for a pair of over-ear headphones.
The icons are used alongside battery and volume indicators when a pair of headphones are connected.

Apple’s AirPods wireless earbuds are crazy popular and the company already owns the Beats brand, which produce wireless headphones as well.
But Apple has never made a pair of over-ear headphones with its own branding before.
The AirPods Pro, PowerBeats Pro and PowerBeats 4 all leaked ahead of time in a similar fashion.
Whether the icon is for a new set of over-ear headphones with the Apple brand or for Beats headphones still remains to be seen.
Apple was expected to hold an event to officially launch the iPhone 9 at the end of month but there are now fears that will be cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.
