APPLE has pulled a software update released yesterday after reports it was turning some people’s phones into useless bricks.

APPLE has been forced to pull a software update to the Apple Watch after reports it was turning some people’s watches into useless bricks.

MacRumours reported the reversal on the software update WatchOS 3.1.1. released yesterday after some people reported that it locked the screen of their watches with an error message and left the watches unusable.

Apple Insider reports the standard recovery solution of a hard reset of the Watch does not fix the problem and affected watches had to be sent away for service.

Apple has had problems previously with updates to the Apple Watch operating system.

Last year Apple was force to delay the release of WatchOS 2 just hours before the global rollout after reports of a software bug killing the watch’s battery life.

If Apple Watch users try to update their software now, the Watch app will tell them that 3.1 is the latest available version.

Apple released a statement about acknowledging the problem.

“A very small number of Apple Watch customers experienced an issue while installing watchOS 3.1.1, so as a precaution we’ve pulled back the software updatem” the statement said.

“Any customers impacted should contact AppleCare, but no action is required if the update installed successfully. We are working on a fix for an upcoming software update.”
